An American Smile
I sit here writing and tonight Im writing for you,
The people who've read my poems so often,
The loyal ones who keep my material fresh and new,
True friends in every way,
Friends who smile and love what I say,
So here I sit with my American Smile,
Not worried about being judge,
or you not liking my writing style,
An American smile,
Proud of the freedoms that have been achieved,
Proud of the people who have served and died,
Proud of my parents for raising me,
Proud of my family who has stayed by my side,
An American Smile,
Thankful for your eyes that take time to read,
Thankful for my words you daily breathe,
Thankful for sharring your culture with me,
Thankful for the stars that we both shall see,
An American Smile is a smile That was instilled in me,
Form a generation of immigrants who chanced across the sea,
Who have taught me anything is possible in america,
And with enough strength you can be whatever you want to be,
An American Frown is for those in washington DC,
For those who no longer can hear me,
For those who have lost sight of right and wrong,
For those I will vote out of office and say "be gone",
Dont get me wrong there is good every where you go,
but it is the good in us that keeps us strong and forever changing,
Changing government and who we elect,,
Changing our schools and keeping our kids intelectually on tract,
Changing our social services to help the elderly and poor,
But reaching across the oceans even more,
Spoiled have we become as a nation,
but our hearts do hold true,
We understand foreign frustration,
but trust as I do,
In The Red,White, and Blue....
And of course in my American Smile,
who loves you as a brother, a sister and friend,
Whose only wish is freedom for all,
and all the fighting and killing to end...
God Bless, and may I one day see your Smile!!
